Me and my partner ordered two main meals , first was a mushroom pasta dish which just tasted of salt, the second meal was a Chicken Parmo , this was greasy and bland and the chips were terrible, the taste was indescribable to be honist , we got up told the waitress how disappointed we were, paid and walked out , baring in mind I am far from a fussy eater.

Lovely food eaten from 3 course for £10 menu, you are not robbed for what you get. New dessert on offer , peach and almond tarte which was very nice. Would like to see a beef casserole as an option or a change some time. Friendly staff and lovely to know there is a traditional country village pub on the doorstep and where dogs are welcomed. Colin and the team work hard to keep it running.

Ate at restaurant while staying in jitel to celebrate friends birthday. The good was fantastic, and staff friendly we were still laughing with them in the morning when we went for breakfast. Would recomend the breakfast if your staying great selection.

We had the 3 courses for £10 deal. The food was lovely and such good value for money. Spoilt slightly by a ‘local’ playing YouTube on his phone while eating. The car park to the rear could do with some lighting, it is literally pitch black dark and we had to use the phone torch to ensure we didn’t trip on anything. We will certainly return and give it another go but perhaps park at the front.

Absolutely appalling serving staff marvellous except the Chef serving the carvery who was rude I was not the only one who complained that day.

Good afternoon On arriving with my two daughters for afternoon tea we were greeted nicely and shown to our table. The waitress asked if we would like tea or coffee and brought us what we ordered but when she brought us our 3 tier cake stand of delights the stand was very very unsteady and I don’t think should of been used. We didn’t dare move it as frightened it was going to collapse. The sandwiches were skimped on as not even two slices of bread each. The cheesecakes we’re thumb size compared to the scones which were over sized and no butter, jam or cream was served with them., I had to ask for some. After moving to the lounge after finishing later I ordered 2hot chocolates and a cappuccino , the waitress came with hot chocolates first, o r was filled to the top of glass latte mug and the other was filled to 2inches from the top. At least they should be the same and when my cappuccino came the waitress spilt it over table, mobile phone and handbag, if it was on a saucer this might not of happened and no spoon. Ive worked in hospitality for 15 years and the waitresses defiantly need some training. This was a rare treat for me to spend time with my two daughters together and I wasn’t that impressed with the afternoon tea, had better teas at other places which disappointed me as we had a wonderful stay and meal for my daughters wedding at the hotel 7 years ago. Won’t rush to visit again which is a shame as I don’t live that far away.

Excellent Sunday lunch , with generous portions . Friendly staff . We'll definitely go again .

The food is absolutely fabulous. The staff are so helpful, especially Cathy at breakfast. We absolutely loved our dining experience here, evening meal and breakfast. We can’t fault anything. The stay we had was absolutely brilliant and would highly recommend staying here. We’ll definitely return.

One of my favourite Durham restaurants. A hidden gem. Lovely food in a beautiful little setting. Highly recommended

Sunday carvery for 3, treating our friend from Australia , lovely meal- food was hot enough which was good as I always feel this doesn’t happen! Ellie was our waitress and very pleasant. Thankyou and looking forward to our overnight stay with friends on the 22nd Sept.

Happy, smiling, friendly, attentive faces, good food (couldn't decide - all the menu looked tempting) served quickly, excellent value - shouldn't be stand-out - but it is.

Food was great, service from the new waitress on her first night working there was second to none. Bar staff also very good 3 courses for £10 was excellent value and the atmosphere was lovely b

We booked 2nd sep 2023 for a meal in the Resturant with visiting family There was a piece of plastic in our starter, & a pizza came out 12 mins after everyone else’s main meals The manager in charge handled both matter to our satisfaction but I can say it did still taint our night. Food was lovely service wasn’t as expected

Booked Sunday lunch menu for 5 people, very reasonable price if £15.95 for 2 courses. Waiter service excellent. Carvery meat and vegetables excellent. We did like the opportunity to serve ourselves rather than be served, that way we could have as much or it as little as we wanted. Drinks a little pricey - £8 for a glass of white or red house wine.

Amazing food in a really nice setting. Service was also top notch. A hidden gem in Durham. Would definitely recommend.

Visiting Durham and wanted to eat somewhere other than our hotel. Came across Gussto and weren't disappointed. Food was really tasty, hot and filling. The service was professional and attentive. Wine selection was very good. Would recommend and would eat there again on our next visit.
