The Farmers Arms – DurhamFood was beautifully cooked and piping hot. Was served quickly and looked good. The only thing I was disappointed with was being charged for tartar sauce. Plus the crockery for sides was all chipped. Place is quirkyly decorated and inviting. I'd go back.
The Farmers Arms – DurhamAlthough the restaurant was reasonably quiet there was a lovely atmosphere. Staff were attentive and the food delicious and of excellent quality
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleAbsolutely lovely food with great service. We went for my wife’s 50th birthday there were 16 of us and the hotel was very accommodating with regards to decorations.
Derwent Manor Hotel – DurhamHad lunch on Wednesday; place is clean and pleasant; staff are friendly and helpful; food portions were generous and the food was very nice and well presented.

Farmhouse Dine & Wine – DurhamHad afternoon tea
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleService was great and attentive. Atmosphere is good and relaxed. Food was good, not great. I would definitely go back. The spa area was clean and good as hotels go. Busy as it was raining and no-one was playing golf. Pool was good, jacuzzi was good and comfortable. It's a jacuzzi, hardly a 3 seat sofa so I do not understand some people saying it was uncomfortable! The hotel: it's good! It's an old building with all that entails. Wooden noisy floors and so on. Only one thing: the painting could be done better and kept up to speed. All in all a great find and a lovely weekend. Staff could not be more helpful and polite. Well done
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonAmazing food, happy every time we visit here!
The Farmers Arms – DurhamI booked the hotel based on location. We stayed for a based purley on convenience. Wow best meal we've had in ages. The beef pie was substantial with beautiful melt in the mouth beef and great chips. My pork stuffed with apricots was absolutely delicious. I really should have had dessert as I didn't really have space for it was delicious and very rich, the staff were knowledgeable and helpful too. Great meal, we will definitely be back next year
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleThe food is the best & the service is great. Had a lovely time.
Gussto Tapas Bar – DurhamWe stayed at Derwent Manor for two nights in a premier super king room on a dinner bed and breakfast basis. We loved our stay. The room was amazing and the bed extremely comfortable. We had everything we needed. Breakfast was delicious hot and plenty of choice. We are in Prego both nights and all the meals we had were excellent. A big thank you to all the staff who made our stay perfect.
Derwent Manor Hotel – DurhamBreakfast & dinner both very good. Loin of pork enormous & delicious. Sea bass fortunately not huge but beautifully cooked and terrific value compared to what we have to pay 'darn Sarf'. Overall the whole meal represented very good value for money and was much enjoyed. Staff uniformly friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again (we stayed 2 days this time).
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleMy wife and I recently dined in Gilroy's Restaurant on a Sunday evening. We were very impressed with the quality of the food, and the quality of the service we received. The servers were very friendly, without being familiar. They were very helpful and the menu and were able to give us accurate information about our chosen dishes. Considering that one of our choices was a souflee, we didn't have to wait too long! Ignore the poor reviews on Tripadvisor, I think they must be writing about a different hotel! By the time we left the dining room, the restaurant was filling up, and very few tables were vacant!
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleExcellent service, very good food and value for money. Will definitely be going back.
Farmhouse Dine & Wine – DurhamWe stayed at derwent manor so had dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. The service was excellent they were so accommodating for our requests due to my granddaughter and husband wanting to order a starter from antler menu. All 3 courses were absolutely delicious. Breakfast the next morning was hot and cold buffet options. Everything was fresh and tasty. We will definitely return our whole stay was fantastic
