Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleThe restaurant has a cosy traditional atmosphere with friendly helpful staff. Our main waitress, Sarah, could not have been more helpful. In fact, all staff were pleasant and attentive. The food, in terms of quality and presentation, while not cheap, was excellent. We dined on two evenings and both had venison for our main course on the first occasion. The meat was tender and tasty. On the second evening my wife had beef bourgignon and I had the steak. Both were excellent. We started with a drink at the bar. Loved the murals!
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleExcellent service delicious and reasonably priced food . Just the decor is a little tired

Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonWent for Sunday lunch for first time on weekend and absolutely loved it . Could have demolished another 3 of them it was that good. Dinner was full of flavour , only let down is lack of gravy on plate when it comes out so I had to order more . Apart from that though it was spectacular. Will be back more often for Sunday lunch
Farmhouse Dine & Wine – DurhamAmazing Sunday Lunch. Met up here with friends to catch up, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday lunches. Great atmosphere and friendly staff topped off a great experience. Looking forward to returning.
The Farmers Arms – DurhamThere was a lot of choice on the menu and everything sounded lovely. We weren't disappointed. The food was delicious. I had the sticky toffee pudding for desert and it was heaven on a plate! The staff were attentive, friendly and couldn't have done more. We are already planning our next visit.
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonLovely quality food, reasonable price. We really enjoyed it!
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonService was decent Food was ok Nice fish cake starter, pork main a little over cooked
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleArrived at the hotel greeted by a lovely receptionist . However her directions for the room were not specific enough and we spent a while looking for our room . Room we thought was basic even though we upgraded No toiletries which we thought was standard in a hotel of 3 star. Treatments were lovely and the therapist Cath was very nice. Asked for coffee after this and was told machine was broken and I could get on over at the hotel . I didn't like walking through the changing rooms though. What if someone was getting undressed? Walking into meal very dim lights . When asked to put lamp on beat us we were told it didn't work and neither did the chandkier! With someone with limited eye sight this was very emotional as couldn't see the menu and had to put my light on my phone . We were apologised to but ... Anyway food was very nice . No issues however they were very quick to serve three courses . Sleep was ok however a private party was going on till after midnight . We would of liked to be told this to make us aware of this. Breakfast was amazing . Can't fault it at all . A very mixed response to my break away.
