Served a purpose but was a bit disappointing. Food and drink are very overpriced, no atmosphere and the restaurant was cold. Food tasted ok, but nothing special.

We stayed here as part of a package deal from Wowcher. Our deal included afternoon tea and a two course evening meal. My husband and I were pleased with the quality of food. The evening meal especially. The breakfast was pretty standard but a good deal included within the package. The only compliant would be it’s a little lacking on the atmosphere front. We had afternoon tea and there was no background music so you could hear other people’s conversations etc. we felt the same on the evening. We hoped for pre-dinner drinks but the place seemed to be really lacking in atmosphere and character. The service was great and the waiting staff were so polite and very welcoming and friendly. The overall deal was definitely value for money, though.

Great location lovely spa next door to hotel lots to do within distance of Barnard castle very peaceful just so lovey to relax with out any loud music just such a nice place to chill out food was excellent and staff were pleasant breakfast was good as the afternoon tea was our evening meal was outstanding will definitely go back

Great food, good choice, great atmosphere, great value, some meals incurred a supplement but was clearly indicated on the menu. Experience exceeded our expectations.

Beautiful food. The sticky toffee pudding was out of this world! .Didn't have to wait long for food and the servers were really nice too .

Arrived an hour early for afternoon tea. This was not a problem for the lovely staff. Afternoon tea wes lovely, very fresh, good choice of sandwich, fruit scone with clotted cream and jam, quiche ( cheese and tomato) left the best for last Victoria sponge carrot cake and chocolate brownie and a small bottle of prosecco. Great value for money.

Had the happy hour menu. Amazing value for money and food was really good. Cheaper than a take away and much better quality. Was really busy but food still came quickly. Will definitely be back

Good quality food as usual had the fish n chips hanging kebabs great value for money highly recommend the farmers arms and the deserts are fab to

This was ok rather than great for me. Food was pleasant enough but ambience spoiled by a large tv in my line of vision. Very distracting and who goes to a restaurant to watch tv. Music slightly loud too. Another restaurant adding automatic tip to bill which I truly dislike. Staff friendly and prompt.

Food is amazing. I can’t think of anything wrong with it at all. The only thing I can fault the night is the atmosphere of the restaurant is pretty dead , we tried to book for 7:30 and we were told we can’t have that time but we could have 7:15. We were happy with this but we were surprised that the place was still quite empty throughout the night. We couldn’t work out why 7:30 was unavailable. If you want a drink then make sure you ask for one, because no one will come to the table and ask if you want one. You’ve got to grab eye contact with someone to try and get one. The food is so good though I’d still come back. I feel like i may be being too critical of the place because the food is on another level that the service doesn’t match, the food is so good that the service has no chance to match so it becomes apparent.

Lovely rustic tapas bar! Service was friendly and efficient. The sangria and food were delicious! Will definitely be back

We had beef bourguignon and chicken burger. All absolutely delicious, greens cooked to perfection. Tarte tatin was caramelised and intense, just as it should be. Staff delightful. Good vibe of locals in the bar which speaks volumes. Well done!! Thank you.

Service from start to finish was excellent, from the two colleagues who served us. We had the three course meal and went for the chefs choice of the day on starter and mains. We were not disappointed , The main was lamb with red cabbage and new potatoes which was one of the best mains we have had for a long time. Only wish there was another veg to go with it as two didnt feel enough. Will definitely revisit this restaurant again and have already recommended to friends and family.

Stayed on a package which included db and b.Have stayed previously. Package includes table de hote . The meal quality was satisfactory but I was disappointed with the lack of flexibility.Would have preferred option to have an allowance and greater choice would probably have spent additional sum. The hotel rooms restaurant and surroundings very good.But meal situation would put me me off staying again in
