I was very surprised to recieve a thank you email today asking me to make a review following a booking made for new years eve at 18:30. The reason I was taken aback by this was that as we arrived prompty to take up our reservation for 4 on time, we were informed by a very embarassed server that the chef had closed the kitchen and was no longer serving food. As you can imagine this left us high and dry on new years eve with no option but to walk back home (yes we are all locals) and start cooking! The pub had my contact details and not even attempted to contact me, we are disgusted with their complete absence of customer service and shocking lack of care.

Had a lovely meal for a family birthday. The staff looked after us very well and the food was amazing as usual. We eat regularly at papa Luigis and never has a bad meal. Thankyou

Everything top class . The venue The steaks were sublime with those lovely chips and sauce We had a boogie dancing to Larry Sosa DJ and Miranda The staff are lovely and even charged my dying phone ! A perfect night Keep up the good work!

Visited the Lunesdale Arms for food on New Years Day 2025. Booking was easily done by email although you can book online. There were four adults and a small dog and we had a lovely table out of the way of anyone passing. The menu is extensive and they have a wide variety to suit dietary requirements which was great for me being gluten free. We had the fish pie which was packed full of a variety of fish, seafood chowder which was delicious and a medium fish and chips, they do a large fish and chips and we did wonder how big that was as the medium was massive. The service was great and even though the staff were busy they kept us informed on our order. The meals are very reasonably priced as are the drinks. The decor is lovely. We will definitely visit again..

Visited on new years day to remember my mums birthday. As usual it was lovely. The staff are so friendly. Food was delicious. The portion sizes were big. Definitely recommend a trip to Papas if you've never been.

We had some superb food on New Years Day! This place just gets better and better! We have been several times and love the atmosphere the excellent warm and friendly service. Vegan options were available for two of our family members and they thought it was some of the best vegan food they’d had in restaurants!

Always enjoy dining at the Whitchaff and have done for years. Food always first class and the service provided is excellent .

We had a lovely meal as always and the staff were fabulous but clearly there was not enough of them. Not their fault. We were having a lovely early evening meal but it was disrupted by two individuals setting up a PA system for later on. Whilst they didn’t really disrupt us that much, other diners were clearly disrupted and the two individuals didn’t seem to care! Such a shame as normally so good.

Visited New Years Eve, pre booked table for 2. Been many times and it’s always a relaxed, chilled experience in a beautiful building. Table ready on time. Bar and waiting staff very welcoming, friendly and attentive. Food amazing as usual we just need to remember to order a few at a time and pace ourselves. Would definitely recommend.

Booked a table for 5, pleasantly surprised at no increase in price as New Years Eve. Despite being extremely busy our table was in an area that allowed us to enjoy conversations. Plenty of staff, of whom were very professional yet friendly giving excellent service. The food was high quality looked appealing, served hot, & tasted delicious- between us we had several different meals, all equally good. It was served in a timely manner, not too slow /fast. Drinks prices reasonable. Lovely environment to dine & celebrate New Year. We hadn’t visited for several years, but it definitely won’t be long before we return. Thank you to all the staff
