Excellent food and service.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithStarter course was returned to the kitchen. Pigeon was significantly over cooked. Main course halibut was over cooked and dry: possibly linked to the delay due to returning the starters
Horse and Farrier – PenrithEach time we visit the food just gets better and better. The menu is varied and interesting but the Specials are even better. Last night we had the mackerel pate and the soup to start, both of which were delicious but the star of the show was our duck breast with plums, root veg, rosti and jus which was absolutely fantastic and worthy of a top restaurant. The Horse & Farrier have upped their game again and aside from the first class food, the service is great, always with a smile and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We can’t wait to be back soon!
Horse and Farrier – PenrithIncredible food - never ever disappointed! Great service and the staff always welcome us back with a smile and friendly greeting .
Horse and Farrier – PenrithExcellent food. Especially the duck special and the twice baked soufflé. Great atmosphere and friendly staff.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithMy partner and I eat here regularly. The menu changes frequently, fabulous delicious food with consistent quality . Service is welcoming, hospitable and good. The H&F is our preferred venue for eating out .
Horse and Farrier – PenrithFood was great! It’s a little understaffed, just two folks covering the bar and all tables. Atmosphere could be improved - no music, plus we were in a very dark corner with a wobbly table and weird chairs.
Queens Head Inn Tirril – PenrithThe 3 of us had Sunday lunch at the Queens Head, and we all enjoyed our meals The crackling with the pork was great and could have done with another piece!!!.The beef was lovely and tender, and the Yorkshire puddings were huge. We all had deserts, the Sticky toffee pudding was Sticky, and I was told delicious, the fruit Crumble was lovely and the ice cream was cold!!! The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We would recommend going to the Queens, and we will be returning. Certainly value for money.
Queens Head Inn Tirril – PenrithExceptional food and service..
Horse and Farrier – Penrith3/5 for my meal. I had the Mushroom Cobbler which I think is a new vegetarian dish on the menu. The cobbler itself was quite tasty but the pathetic looking side of overcooked, tasteless carrots that came with it were dire. This dish has so much potential to be better so it needs reworking because at the moment it looks a bit like an afterthought to fill a vegetarian option on the menu. Maybe serve it with spinach and some other decent veg to make to make it more appetising. Husband’s pork dish was 5/5 because he enjoyed it. It looked well presented on the plate compared to my dish. Staff were lovely, friendly and attentive so no issues there.
