I received a very warm welcome when I visited the Water Rat with two friends for lunch last Thursday. The two course lunch menu offers very good value for money and the lady who served us was very friendly, efficient and hard working. Her smile made us feel like a valued customers.

Modern Thai with a twist, Thursday was seafood day. Fish and seafood fresh and tasty we love the food, so ordered both special starters three mains and two desserts The green and red curry seafood were super tasty, but very similar> The pork was to die for The rice was fresh and tasty, sounds simple, but it's not to get it right. Fried ice cream dessert was super too. enjoyable

Suree and her staff never fail to produce amazing food and lovely service. The chicken satay, crispy chicken, fillet steak stir fry and gorgeous puddings- the honeycomb- could go on and on! We have been coming here for many years and is always our go to place.

We had booked an afternoon tea at the Bull at Roddington but we were notified that they had ceased trading so offered us an alternative at The Aston instead. I’m so glad that we went as it was a beautiful afternoon tea with Prosecco & ale & was excellent value for money at £23.95. The savouries were a nice added bonus. Cakes & scones were so light & fresh. Service was very welcoming by Will. Just a shame it was so quiet in the restaurant for a bank holiday weekend but we can highly recommend.

Fantastic meal on Friday this week. First visit to Surees Kitchen but won’t be our last. Food was superb and the friendly service was excellent. Thoroughly recommend if you are visiting Ironbridge to drop in and sample the delights.

Like Anne Corfield, we were offered afternoon tea at The Last Inn after The Bull at Rodington closed, thanks to the help and consideration shown by the Area Manager. I am pleased to say that, unlike Anne Corfield, the food we enjoyed was very good quality. It appeared that The Last Inn had been asked to step in at the last minute for a few bookings and was trying to manage the extra demand. I am pleased to say that the sandwiches were fresh and tasty, filled with pork and apple, cheese and onion and ham. There was no problem with the fillings and there was a choice of brown and white breads. Two people next to us received salmon sandwiches, so they were clearly varying the fillings. The sausage rolls, pork pies and small scotch eggs were all presented in bite sizes. The garnish of salad added to the presentation. The scones were large, warm and precut, with a large helping of jam and cream. The cakes consisted of caramel torte slices and large chocolate brownies, surrounded with raspberries and halved strawberries. Our choice was to have the food with pots of tea, in which there were up to 3 cups. The staff were helpful and friendly.

Booked a bottom less brunch for a hen party, there was 10 of us on my booking. Our first drink did take a little while to be served for us, but after that all drinks were served quickly, there was a good choice of cocktails to choose from. Our food came about an hour into our booking which was the perfect timing, all food was hot and prepared and served to each person liking and preference. All staff for helpful and friendly, special mention to Josh who was our main server, nothing was too much trouble for him. Would definitely recommend to others and comparing the price to other pubs around The Swan was the cheapest.

Amazing meal, freshly cooked. Will definitely be returning.

We came for afternoon tea. Firstly the service was awful. Sat for 30 mins before tea and coffe were offered, then waited a further 20 mins for our food. As the service was so poor, I had to go and ask for the cakes to be boxed up, so we could leave. Secondly we were placed next to a large hen party, who were extremely loud. What should’ve been a relaxing afternoon, turned out to be a disaster and total waste of money

Fabulous steaks and the espresso martini was delicious. Staff were friendly. Looking forward to going back.

We did have to wait quite awhile for our meals and having a hungry one year old - we were getting frustrated, however, the food was fabulous.Tasty and the chips were amazing. 7 meals ordered and we all enjoyed, one thing though with my steak, medium rare was ordered and I received well done. After waiting 45mins, I was so hungry that I didn’t send it back. Still tasty just not what I asked for! Nonetheless , it was a meal booked for my sister in laws birthday, the waiter and chef went into great efforts in finding candles for me and making her dessert look good! I couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you.

A lovely venue, friendly and helpful staff and absolutely amazing food!

The atmosphere was fresh and roomy, with tables well-spaced apart. The staff was exceptionally friendly and eager to assist. The food was fantastic; the brisket was on par with, if not superior to, any I've tasted in the US. Exceptional value for the price, and I will certainly be coming back.

Went for dinner with my family midweek at 1930 after booking via the Malthouse Website. Unfortunately the booking was not listed on the reception computer despite an email confirmation from them. This is the second time this has happened. However it was a Tuesday evening and not so busy. The inside area is welcoming and nicely lit, dogs are also welcome, however I'd advise caution on a weekend when the inside area is busy. The seating area is nice but can be a little tight depending where you are. During our visit the venue was quiet and we were seated to the rear in the snug area. This was ideal for two adults and two children. Outdoor seating is also available for warm evenings The menu is wide ranging and caters for most tastes. I personally like the muscle starter. The prices are on par with similar places, however I think they are at the upper end. The fish and chips was a really good portion size with large meaty fish. This is a welcome change compared to most pubs that serve small fish. I've eaten here many times and never been disappointed with the food or service. Generally the portions are generous which really makes a good change. The burgers are well made and very tasty. Never had a complaint about the food. The service changes depending on how busy the pub is and order size. But everyone there is welcoming and chatty. The beer garden is large and open which is great in summer time and warm evening. Especially with dogs and children. Often the pub will have small food vendors and an outside bar. Occasionally a marquee is set up for cooler evenings. No complaints here and it is my first choice place to eat in Ironbridge. Overall I would recommend.

Fantastic afternoon tea. Really enjoyed the savoury offering - so much better than the usual boring sandwiches. Sweet treats also really tasty although would have been nice to have more jam and cream. Great value for money. Attentive friendly service.

Recent visit with family , chosen as our favourite pub in the area. Staff as always are attentive and very friendly. Food excellent and the duck from the specials board was very nice. As always thank you for a great time and we will be back soon.
