The Queens Head – OswestryWe had Christmas Lunch at The Last Inn this year. The food was nice and it was great that the food choices that had been submitted were noted. However we were disappointed with service. We were surprised as previous experiences there had been very good. On this occasion, the service was appalling. We ordered a bottle of white wine which was basically dumped at the edge of the table, no chiller provided, no checking that it was okay or the right one. This was followed by plates of food dumped once more in the same way. Servers huffing as they did so, no smiling at all, resulting in a poor dining experience. The server who cleared our table at the end was different, she was smiling, attentive and friendly. The planning of bookings was well organised; a good flow of tables being filled which allowed the servers to not be overstretched. All the more surprising for the poor service. Overall a disappointing Christmas Day unfortunately.
The Last Inn – NewportWent for Christmas Eve with the family and we were not let down. Great venue and beautiful food. We have eaten in steak restaurants all over the world and this was up there with some of the best. Starters were lovely we had two prawns and one mozzarella. Could have done with a finger bowl with prawns. Mozzarella was amazing. Then we had two fillets and a tomahawk and this was fantastic. The sides of tempura vegetables accompanied the mains perfectly. Service was a little slow in parts and probably needs to be looked at so it does not let them down. Also outdoor signage really needs to be sorted and advertising because we found it on the off chance but people don’t know it is there. I really hope this succeeds as it was lovely and Shrewsbury needs something like this.
Ribeye Shrewsbury – ShrewsburyWe booked two weeks ahead for a quiet family meal. We specifically requested a quiet table because one of the party has hearing loss and wears hearing aids. When we arrived we were left standing for about ten minutes and were ignored by the staff. When eventually we were spoken to, we were asked if we were part of a Christmas Party booking. We explained the booking we had made and the person who was managing tables was very dismissive and rude. She looked at the computer and said that the entire restaurant was booked for two large Christmas parties and there would be nowhere quiet. So basically tough luck. Due to her manner and the fact they hadn’t contacted us ahead of time to explain that the restaurant would be noisy, we decided to eat elsewhere. I know Christmas is a busy time for everyone, but the staff’s manner and the fact that they made us feel so unwelcome and an inconvenience, means we’re unlikely to eat at the Malthouse again. Very disappointed.
The Malthouse – TelfordThe food on Christmas Eve was excellent. We all had three courses and prosecco as part of the Christmas Fayre special. Every course was delicious, perfectly cooked and piping hot, the calamari and the pie in particular were fabulous. Will and the other server were great, really attentive, great attitudes and full of Christmas spirit. I would highly recommend this venue for a great atmosphere and delicious food.
The Last Inn – NewportBooked to attend Christmas eve 4 adults snd 4 young children, only to be told we had no table booked and they were not serving food. The welcome we received was absolutely appalling and the way we were spoken to was completely disrespectful and unwelcome. 2 women behind the bar were whispering between themselves and I was made to feel like I couldn't take some time to look through my emails to find my booking. We have been many times in the past and have always loved the food , atmosphere and the warm welcome we receive from Kerry and a young red headed girl. Unfortunately we didn't see either of them last night and we were appalled by the way we were spoken to. We shall not be returning .
The Tilley Raven – ShrewsburyReally enjoyed our evening on Christmas Eve. Food was superb, especially the spicy Tom Yam. Suree was great company, so funny! Thank you x
Suree’s Kitchen – IronbridgeThe meal itself was delicious, and it's very hard to satisfy my darling daughter so well done! However, what made it special for us was the WONDERFUL staff, they were so friendly. Thank you
The Swan At Ironbridge – TelfordWow, amazing food as ever, perfect before Christsmas, catch up with chums, lovely atmosphere, great attentive service, and Surees menu was perfect, loved the sirloin and prawn tom yum soup so fresh, but when a table of 8 have 7 order the deep fried ice cream you know there's a favourite!!!!!
Suree’s Kitchen – IronbridgeLovely time just before Christmas, group of pals and food fantastic, and great service, love the sea bream
Suree’s Kitchen – IronbridgeI visited the Malthouse for Sunday lunch yesterday after booking a table with you, the Sunday roast was as good as ever so and always good quality food. The disappointment came from the area we were sat for dinner, it’s was the room at the back of the pub painted green near the staff quarters door to upstairs. When we arrived there was a table of four already sat in the area, then we arrived and then they had an another person join them. During the whole of lunch it was loud shouting, screaming and foul language, nobody from the staff challenged them on this and spoiled the Sunday lunch it was a nightmare. Yes I swear but in the right setting but it was just relentless for the hour we stayed, just wanted to feedback to you because behaviour like this should be challenged and not accepted in a restaurant environment.
The Malthouse – TelfordExcellent family Christmas meal for 8, great service and food was delicious! Will definitely come again.
The Swan At Ironbridge – TelfordNice food, but poor service. After being served our food we weren’t asked if we wanted anything else (drinks / desert) We went to the bar to order coffee, hot chocolate, Bayleys. They didn’t have any hot chocolate or Bayleys and we had to go back to the bar to remind them about the coffee. Very disappointing.
The Tilley Raven – ShrewsburyFamily Xmas meal for 10 of us. Excellent service - prompt and friendly staff and welcomed on arrival. Delicious food from both the festive and main menus. Lighting and atmosphere good. Will definitely come again
