L'Endroit
70-72 Lawton Street, Congleton, CW12 1RS - 0871 5296535
![]()
Congleton's L'Endroit opened in May 2003 with chef patron Eli Laconte offering classic French cuisine 'without the nouvelle'. The 34-cover restaurant features in the Good Food Guide and the Michelin Guide. Everything except the cheese and the ice cream is freshly made on the premises - to the extent that his own bees produce the honey used here -- and game is a speciality. Typical dishes might include starters such as Hot goat's cheese roasted with L'Endroit garden honey on a mixed leaf salad or Home-made black pudding with raisins and seasonal salad. Mains could include Braised dorade fillet with tomato coulis and a basil and herb crust or Pheasant breast stuffed with foie gras and leg meat in a calvados sauce. The menu changes with the seasons although the business lunch menu changes every week. The wine selection is extensive with both a standard list and a special list containing a wealth of gems from the Bordeaux, Burgundy and Rhone regions. Prices from £10.25 to £1200. L'Endroit is open lunch and dinner Tuesday to Friday and for dinner only on Saturdays. And tables aren't turned here so once you are seated you can eat at your leisure and really savour the L'Endroit experience. Closed on Sundays but the restaurant can be booked for private parties. And when weather permits, you can dine on the Parisian-style terrace.Awards | Good Food Guide 3

The Michelin-starred restaurant at Chester's luxurious five-star Grosvenor Hotel & Spa was formerly known as Arkle - after the Duchess of Westminster's famous steeplechaser - but was renamed Simon Radley At The Chester Grosvenor in 2008 in honour of the Executive Chef who has headed up the kitchen team for 20 years and held a Michelin star since 1990. This is fine dining in grand style with a seasonally changing menu inspired by French haute cuisine. The Church Green in Lymm is now home to one of the UK's hottest culinary talents, Aiden Byrne, who having earned rave reviews during his time in London has returned to his native northwest. At just 22, he was the youngest-ever chef to win a Michelin star and went on to work as Tom Aiken's right hand man and then as head chef at The Grill at the Dorchester. He's also appeared regularly on TV and has published his own cookbook, Made in Great Britain, which showcases his passion for British food and produce. The menu at the Church Green changes daily and is based on fresh local produce, with some of the greens coming from their own herb and vegetable garden. The Church Green is open for lunch and dinner every day with a choice between the bar menu and the a la carte with the wine list stretching to 75 bins. There's room for 60 diners inside and another 60 al fresco when weather permits. Partner Sarah handles front-of-house while Aiden and his young team turn out affordable and unpretentious dishes like his signature Chilled broad bean soup with black olives and Thornby Moor Stumpy goats cheese and Lancashire suckling pig with onion, sage and langoustines.
