Latest Restaurant Review:The Old Canteen, Huddersfield

"My wife and I visited to redeem our Groupon voucher for an "afternoon cream tea" Booking was required; and was difficult to achieve. Having been given dates weeks away, when I phoned back, I was given dates, months away. I insisted that I already had available dates to consider and was booked in straight away. When we went, the place was almost empty: Our cream tea had no cream and looked nothing like the advertisement. The sandwiches were fresh and pleasant, the pieces of cake were no more than small bits of chocolate brownie or similar. Two desserts each in tall glasses; a chocolate mousse with bits of merengue and a so called trifle which comprised a bit of custard, very dry sponge and a couple of pieces of strawberry. A very disappointing experience. We will not go back. "
