Jawaneh

The Cedar Tree is one of the city's best-kept secrets and has the added bonus that you can bring your own wine. Here is a recipe for one of the most popular starters.

Jawaneh

Serves: 4 People

6 meaty chicken wings
chopped onion
1 tbsp tomato puree
1 clove crushed garlic
Olive oil
Generous pinch of cumin


Recipe

Immerse chicken wings in pan of cold water and add chopped onion. Bring to boil then simmer for 30 minutes. Drain and grill them at top heat for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile mix olive oil, garlic, tomato puree and cumin into thick paste and heat in pan. Remove chicken from grill, and stir into the paste for a minute or so. Serve chicken wings with lemon slices and salad. This dish also makes a main course with steamed rice.
