Pheasant Inn – KeswickVisited on Saturday evening. Huge selection of small plates, meat, fish & veg. We had a selection of each & a pizza to share which was delicious. Food & service both amazing. Lady who was front of house was amazing too & very knowledgeable about the dishes. Highly recommend trying the Tuscan Stew - it is truly outstanding!
Sage and Vine – CarlisleI was very disappointed with my visit on the 16th of August. The beef was tough I didn't get the sides that were stated on the menu. I was with two friends and only got one dish of what should have been cauliflower cheese but ended up being broccoli and cauliflower cheese for the three of us. I have been coming to the pheasant since I started coming to Keswick but was let down on this visit and left very disappointed.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickWell yet another lovely meal on Sunday 14/08/26. We both decided on the soup of the which was potato & Leek, My partner had the Gammon with all the Sunday extras, I plumped for the fish pie which all was amazing, hot and very tasty. Service was quick and knowledgeable. Great value for money especially with the portion size. You have got to love dogs as they there, under tables to the sides and all well behaved. Atmosphere was good , chatted to people next to us , very busy pub . Really enjoyed our Sunday visit.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickThis was our third visit and again thoroughly enjoyed our visit, the Lamb Valentine was delicious and my husbands fish pie was very good, prompt service from friendly staff, we’ll definitely be back hopefully soon.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickDelicious food in beautiful traditional surroundings. The pie was outstanding as usual.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeAbsolutely amazing service and food. Will definitely be back.
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleLovely little pub, Sunday lunch today was epic, 1 vegetarian option, and 1 lamb, portions were generous, with plenty of gravy, great selection of vegetables, and a monster Yorkshire pudding. The sticky toffee pudding was to die for. All the staff were efficient, polite, and friendly, and we didn't have to wait long for our food. I really have nothing negative to say
The Royal Oak – UlverstonLovely atmosphere, great service, tremendous food and good value.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithSmall town centre restaurant, with free evening parking nearby. Food delicious and beautifully presented. Service excellent.
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithOur first visit to Grasmere and this dog friendly restaurant. The presentation of food was first class and all three courses were delicious. We would have welcomed a larger portion of vegetables, but that's just us. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Definitely recommend .
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereRelaxing atmosphere, great menu, tasty food, good ales on tap, good service. Highly recommended
Horse and Farrier – PenrithVery enjoyable evening. Busy restaurant with splendid views. Lovely soufflé starter and lamb harissa to follow. Menu is not a standard one; there wasn’t too much meat from which to choose. Only disappointment was a lack of zero alcohol gin.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithMy wife and I eat at the Wheatsheaf 3-4 times a year and in the past have always enjoyed the food/experience. We had dinner yesterday evening (19:00) and sadly were disappointed. The usual young lady who runs the restaurant so efficiently was missing and I have to say standards dropped. My wife’s food - pie, chips and peas was cold and when she asked for the peas to be warmed, they were returned still cold. This was rectified later. My steak was tasty and well cooked as requested. Service was ok but a bit slower than usual. However, the young waitress was abrupt and unfriendly (or so it seemed). I appreciate every establishment has an off night and there may be circumstances of which we’re not aware.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeA pleasantly busy bistro, with great ambience and a nicely decorated space. Food was excellently cooked and there was a good wine list. Staff could not have been friendlier. Recommended and definitely worth a visit - but you’ll have to book!
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereHad afternoon tea on Saturday. It was lovely. We have had afternoon tea in various places but this was by far the best. Will certainly be back to check out other items on the menu.
Brizzolaris – Dalton in FurnessThis is a very friendly family run pub with a brilliant kitchen. We regularly stay at the Crossroads B&B on our way back from Scotland (same proprietors). As well as being very friendly and accommodating we really look forward to the high quality of the food both at the pub in the evening and at breakfast in the morning at the B&B. 10 out of 10 from us. Well worth a visit.
Greyhound Inn Cotehill – CarlisleLoved the nachos sharing starter it was amazing best we have ever had. Main meal was average to poor. Chips were very dry. Service was very slow- it was busy. We were served meal without cutlery and had to ask several times before we got some. There were a lot of flies in the restaurant which I think is the heat. Overall disappointing.
