What a find. An absolutely beautiful setting the atmosphere, food and service lived up to expectations. We enjoyed the Chicken Supreme and Roasted Cod and we just had to try the deserts. The sticky toffee pudding and cheesecake didn’t disappoint

After a recommendation we booked a table for Sunday lunch. Was seated straight away. Waited 30 minutes for our meal and had to remind a staff member that we were waiting. Food was pipping hot and tasty. Would have preferred more vegetables but that’s just a personal opinion.

We booked two evenings at Lewis’s and on both occasions it was fantastic. Food and drinks were delicious, the staff attentive and friendly, the atmosphere relaxing. A return visit for us as we also visited on a previous visit to Grasmere - that was equally as good. We’ll definitely book again on our next planned visit.

Ate in this restaurant on the last two Saturdays. Both occasions with visiting friends. We all enjoyed the food and drink. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Helpful throughout both nights. Best recommendation, I will definitely book again. Thanks, Arthur

I always enjoy coming to Dacre and eating at the Horse & Farrier. It was a special family occasion with my two sons and we had a lovely time.

Absolutely delicious meal at Lewis Bistro. My husband had the lamb rump and I had the chicken supreme. Both were lovely as was the lemon and raspberry cheesecake. Best meal we have had so far on our Coast to Coast walk and I doubt if we’ll have anything to beat it. Would definitely come again if we are in the area.

The meal was lovely apart from the gammon steak, on the tough side and egg fried too hard. The prawn cocktail was best I've ever had as was garlic mushrooms and smoked black pudding bon buns. Will return. ⅞

Having come here for several years on our annual visit to the Lakes and been very satisfied with the food, but not so this time. Food was generally not up to their usual standard, they forgot one of the starters, forgot to serve vegetables for two dishes, the one portion of chips ordered were undercooked and they had run out of mango chutney for the ordered curry! However one member of the serving team did his best to look after us, but it looked like they had problems in the kitchen.

Booked for Sunday lunch. The food was good but the service not so good. We waited 45 minutes due to the fact that they had lost our order.

We had a lovely meal here on Saturday night. I had the tempura vegetables followed by the vegetable curry. I thoroughly enjoyed both courses. Beautifully prepared and well seasoned. I had to ask for a plate for the curry as I couldn’t eat from the dishes they were served in. That was no problem at all. My husband enjoyed his Gambas Pil Pil and Fillet Steak Stroganoff. Both full but we could not resist the delicious Lemon and Raspberry Cheesecake and ordered a slice to share with creamy vanilla ice cream. The staff were great, very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Grasmere x

We stumbled upon this lovely little pub on our journey to the lakes and had a wonderful lunch stop there. The food is delicious and home cooked. All the staff are welcoming and attentive . We enjoyed our lunch so much on the Thursday that we decided to book a table and go back for Sunday roast, we were not dissapointed! The beef was so tender as was the lamb. Highly recommend this little gem

I think we were unlucky ? The roast potatoes were dry, hard lumps, nothing tasted fresh or homemade. Gravy was lovely. One meal took a good fifteen minutes after everyone had already had theirs to be brought out. The service was poor, nobody asked if we wanted desserts .. just a really strange atmosphere. I wouldn't reccomend bringing children. One child was asked what ice cream was wanted at the start and the other not asked at all...but was brought out a flavour she doesn't like ... apparently there wasn't other flavours available other than strawberry. We were sat by staff , near to the bar area as a family with young children which a customer must have had bad wind that day sat on the stool, lots of foul language too but again maybe just unlucky where seated , staff didn't seem bothered ? We didn't really have any expectations, just wanted a Sunday lunch near to where we were staying. Please be aware pork is advertised but no longer available. I do believe customer service is priority regardless of the quality of food. We were advised not to come here by a local family but decided to try for ourselves.

We came for Sunday lunch (booked in advance) absolutely yummy high quality food. I had Beef my Husband had Pork and both as good as each others. Staff really friendly and attentive we will be back.
