Farmhouse Dine & Wine – DurhamI’m apologising in advance but this was my experience and it may not have bothered others but it did us. We booked online for tea with my son, prior to us going on holiday the following day. It wasn’t to be the type of evening (Tuesday) to sit around chatting for too long, we simply wanted to go out for tea and straight home. We chose from the ‘3 courses for £10’ menu. My sons drink didn’t come and we had to ask 3 times for it. 2 starters came and it was approx 5 minutes before the 3rd one came - main course very similar, no coleslaw came and it took a while to bring it. 3rd course came after chasing it up after half an hour of finishing our main, again only 2 came, they were luke warm and we had finished ours before my sons was brought out. At this point I felt the need to say something because it took 2 1/2 hours to get our meal completed. The manager apologised, there had been 2 large parties in and a kitchen member of staff was off sick - which may explain part of the delays but not the bringing only 2 meals at a time issue! She then went on to say they had forgotten all about us for our dessert course. An absolutely terrible experience, however I have rated the food and atmosphere very highly.
The Farmers Arms – DurhamHad a spa day day /afternoon tea and was absolutley gorgeous , We sat outside as the sun was shining , we chose one savoury and one sweet it was really really nice the best afternoon tea ive had in a long time plenty of choice , the staff were excellent very polite and efficient , I would definitley book here again
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonWent here with friends and we had the 3 course special. Food was fantastic . Menu has plenty to chose from and the service is friendly and really helpful. Would definitely recommend.
The Farmers Arms – DurhamBest fish and chips ..staff is very good...must go there
i Fry – Chester-le-StreetFood is OK, nothing special, in fact quite expensive for pizza, fries and the smallest salad ever. Disappointed being asked if we want service charge left on, I like to decide if service warrants a tip, makes it off putting. One of our party found something in his glass, yes it was dealt with but shouldn't happen. Don't think we will eat here much.
Hall Garth Hotel – DarlingtonAnother perfect night here, amazing food, excellent customer service and lovely quirky surroundings plus value for money
The Farmers Arms – DurhamBeautiful food highly recommend, could not fault the service staff were amazing and friendly extremely helpful and very good with small children
Farmhouse Dine & Wine – DurhamLovely place, lovely service, lovely food but place was really cold I kept my coat on the whole time. Will definitely return, thankyou.
The Farmers Arms – DurhamVisited on Sunday for Sunday dinner, however they had ran out so ordered from the normal menu. Ordered bruschetta which was burnt but soggy and the pizza was awful. Have been previously and enjoyed it so was disappointed
Farmhouse Dine & Wine – Durham5 of us had Sunday lunch and it was one the nicest Sunday lunch we had eaten.well worth the money. Nice atmosphere and made to feel welcome and very friendly staff. We will definitely be back again
The Farmers Arms – DurhamMenu very varied. Food delicious. Service excellent. Portion size good. Good value for money.
Gussto Tapas Bar – DurhamGreat food and friendly service - would definitely recommend
Shaheens Indian – DurhamFriendly staff but slow service as they didn’t seem enough staff for such a busy pub.. The food was tasty, but wasn’t that hot.. But as we’d waited so long we just ate it.. We did tell the staff & they did apologise.. We would probably come again but not on a Sunday..
The Farmers Arms – DurhamTasty food ,vegetables well cooked, good and friendly service. Would have liked to be able to have a fish course without added meat, we were informed that the sauce couldn’t be adjusted so non meat eaters only had one choice of a main dish. The puddings were delicious.
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleBooked a table for 6.45pm. On arrival we got told by staff that the table wasn’t ready but it wouldn’t be long so to get a drink in the bar. We sat and waited until 8.30pm for our table! I asked staff a couple of times if our table was ready to which they told me they were just getting it ready. One staff member told me it was our table they were preparing and then came and gave it to the people waiting in the bar next to us! If it wasn’t for the fact it was a special occasion (my dads birthday), we would have left without eating. The food was ok but by the time it arrived my children were over tired and didn’t really enjoy it. I found one staff member quite arrogant, when he asked if the food was worth the wait and said there was nothing he could do about the delay if the table as he couldn’t ask the previous people to leave. No offer of a discount for the table being 1 hour 45 minutes late. Will not be going there again!
Farmhouse Dine & Wine – DurhamNot a lot of choice on the menu. I asked to swop one element of the main but after checking with the chef was told not possible!? The fishcakes starter was a bit bland and the duck egg was not fully cooked. Dessert was lovely. Service was great - 2 wait staff in a busy service but they were lovely. Breakfast wasn’t good at all - looked like a Premier Inn breakfast (self service) but didn’t taste as nice - was quite tasteless really. Expected better if a 4 star hotel
Gilroy’s Restaurant at The Morritt – Barnard CastleThe food very good, however service at Dinner and Breakfast times was very poor and we found the Chef very dictatorial when it came to requests on Menu choice. Attention to detail was lacking and a more clear understanding requires to be in force in the future on TDH and A La Carte menus. Breakfast time no meet & Greet to guests no menus on tables explaining special orders and self service parts of the menu, not what we would expect from a four star hotel. Robert & Jacqueline O'Neil
