The Master Builder – SouthamptonMy husband and I had dinner on Saturday evening (28 February 2026) and booked a table for 6.30 pm. We chose to eat early as the restaurant is much quieter at that time. Our previous experience of eating later was that the restaurant was very noisy, so much so that we chose to eat in the bar area of the pub. We had an enjoyable evening in the restaurant this time. I had a delicious sweet potato risotto with baby spinach and my husband had one of the specials - beef stroganoff, which he said was excellent. We both had a selection of ice cream to finish. I had a small glass of Rose , as I was driving, and my husband had a pint of Guinness. The restaurant automatically adds a 10% service charge to your bill. Our total came to just under £60.00 which I thought was pricey for what we had. The staff were attentive, but it wasn’t service with a smile. I felt we were being judged for ordering a jug of tap water for the table and only one alcoholic drink each. Although, we weren’t even asked if we would like another drink, not even coffee. As others have said, the menu is very limited if you are a vegetarian. It may be worth phoning ahead to let them know, so that they may be able to provide some alternative options.
East End Arms – LymingtonA wonderful meal, the steak was the best I've ever had, delightful. The staff provided a takeaway box for my daughter's leftovers.
The Master Builder – SouthamptonVery good selection of different type of food. Very friendly and helpful staff. The price I think is was way too high or maybe if the drink would be included, it might be decent. Also, I paid way too much for my children 3 and 2 years old. Any child under 5 should be free. Will be nice if they would bring a glass of water to the table. I don’t think we’ll be coming back any soon.
Spoon World Buffet and Bar – PortsmouthCannot fault the food has always been good and value for money. Seating isn’t very comfortable and should be a bit softer for comfort. Service good.
Baja Mexicali – FarehamWe’ve eaten at The Florence Arms two nights in a row and the food and service has been exceptional.
The Florence – SouthseaWe’ve eaten at The Florence Arms two nights in a row and the food and service has been exceptional.
The Florence – SouthseaWe had the loveliest roast dinner and dessert - I had chicken and my husband had beef. It was cooked to perfection with great veg and a huge yorkshire pudding. The service and atmosphere was excellent. We will definately be coming again!
The Florence – SouthseaGreat food and great staff xx
Baja Mexicali – FarehamFood and service excellent. Would definitely recommend and will be revisiting when next in Southampton plus good choice of music.
The Platform Tavern – SouthamptonNever had a bad meal at Baja! An awesome range of mexican food, and the only place I've found that does Street Corn and Flaca Fries properly. Extra points for having vegan chicken on the menu, which tastes great. I already want to go back.
Baja Mexicali – FarehamFriendly professional service. Food was great,. Really lovely atmosphere
The Master Builder – SouthamptonWe arrived at 19:40 for our table at 20:00 and as we opened the door what I believe it is the shift leader asked “You do not have a reservation, do you?” which I responded yes but at 8pm and we are a bit early. Well, your table is noy ready, come back later, I was told which I responded that is ok we will come back. I have worked in the hospitality industry for over 20 years and I understand what dealing with customers is, if you are tired of a long day dealing with people or you want to go home early and a table for 3 is an inconvinience to you on a Monday after 8pm, you might want to change job or career. I only came back because my children were really looking forward to the food. My children and I come often to the area as one of the companies I work for has a lovely Spa hotel close by. In the end the food was lovely and the lady that mainly served us was very professional.
Baja Mexicali – FarehamWent for Sunday roast, which was a proper roast, we both enjoyed it. Staff was really nice, too. Plus bonus, some music.
The Platform Tavern – SouthamptonLovely venue, cosy atmosphere, friendly guys serving, good food and reasonable pricing, will be back

East End Arms – LymingtonMeal was lovely and staff were very polite and happy
The Master Builder – SouthamptonWe ate here for valentines night and we had the tasting menu. The staff were really attentive and gave us time between courses when needed. The atmosphere was lgood and the table was decorated really nicely. All the courses were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious and the wine pairing worked well. The courses were really well thought out and if I could have picked a menu with all my favourite foods it would have been this . A wonderful evening, will definitely return.
