Visited for lunch. Food lovely as always. Staff friendly and attentive. Very good value for money.

Excellent food and service at a reasonable price.

We've been coming for years. New Years Eve was a joy, as was another great night since. Food is exceptional, and perfectly cooked. The atmosphere is lovely, and staff, always very professional, treat us with kindness, especially my 97 years old sister in law who loves to visit. Hoping for many more visits in 2025.

Fantastic food and excellent service as always. Recommend the beef carpaccio and the spare ribs also the montepulciano red wine is delicious

We stopped going to the Whitchaff under the previous owners but since the it changed ownership and had a full refurbishment we have never been disappointed. Myself and my wife have had many meals there aswell organised family celebration meals. Our most recent visit was Saturday 12th January 2025, myself and my wife had an early evening meal at 6.45pm. We booked online a few days prior which was really simple. Arrived slightly early but our table was ready and we were shown straight to it. Drinks order taken whilst we viewed the menu . For starters my wife had the Nduja Mac & Cheese Bombs and I have the Tempura King prawns. I know it’s a cliche but to say they were ‘To die for’ was no understatement. Piping hot and delicious we even tried each others. For our main course we broke from our tradition and had a sharing board (the Cajun one, I can’t recall its proper name). We absolutely loved it, nothing left over because it was so nice and we were both pleasantly stuffed. Unfortunately we had no room for desert. Once we had finished and the plates cleared away, there was no pressure on us to vacate the table, staff were still enquiring if we wanted more drinks. We left and all we could talk about on the way home was how levels the meal had been. I don’t often write reviews, only generally when we’ve had a really bad or really good experience and this clearly fell into the latter. This is definitely b coming back again…. And again.

Lovely food, great service and friendly welcome. When we arrived it was busy but the service was quick and the food arrived within 20 minutes. Staff really friendly and prices are good for the quality.

Always great. Lovely atmosphere. Space to drink or dine or both around log fires with walkers and dogs, or a large dining room to the rear for quieter or family meals. Generous menu, generous portions and warm service. A proper moorland pub doing well in tricky times

Lovely place. We regularly go and always have steak and Stilton pie from the specials menu, absolutely amazing every time

We have visited Verdes on many occasions and always leave completely satisfied. The venue itself is beautiful winter and summer, the choice of the menu is vast, the quality of the food is exceptional and the value for money is outstanding. The staff are extremely attentive and nothing is too much trouble for them, they are very efficient and organised. Always a pleasure Thank you

Had a lovely lunch on 11th Jan 2025. Such a comprehensive menu with lots of vegetarian options. Very good value with a lovely fun atmosphere and quirky decor. I had spicy chicken and my friend had feta cheese and olive, which she has said is now her new "go to" Sandwiches were beautiful, made on very fresh bread served with a fresh vibrant salad. Our side salad of chips were very hot and delicious. They had run out of teapots as it was very busy, so we both got a very large pot of tea each, which was just perfect, but a challenge to empty it!!! All staff were very attentive and friendly. The background music was just enough and comfortable volume. Will definitely be visiting again. Superb - thankyou

Lovely very welcoming helpful staff. Nice food too but unfortunately we all felt cold. The lovely wood burner wasn’t lit and the electric heater on the wall was cold. We did ask if the heater could be turned on but it wasn’t. I had to keep a scarf wrapped around me. Because of that I felt it affected the atmosphere. We came to celebrate my mother in law’s birthday and she’s 85 so she felt the coldness and we also had a toddler who felt cold too. We still enjoyed our time together but think we would have felt more comfortable if we had some warmth.

The 3 times we’ve been here since it’s opening have been a superb dining experience! The food quality and expertise of the chefs in getting things right with 1/ the food 2/ the waiting on staff ( very pleasant and naturally engaging ) 3/ the pricing structure which Although not cheap, is set at about the correct level, taking into account the haven Dans vision Has created emitting an ambience that the regular diners enjoy.
