The Smokey Cow – TelfordHad a meal on a Saturday evening and requested a quiet table which the staff accommodated. Nice place , staff were really friendly and helpful. It’s very much a steak or burger place imo , I had a burger which was very nice , my wife had a steak which she said was ok but nothing amazing. I think it’s a bit pricey for the food you get but it’s a nice place and if you want burgers /steaks etc then you should be fine. Would recommend it and I would eat there again.
The Malthouse – TelfordFood was good and reasonably priced for Sunday lunch but the service was awful! From start to finish! The young barman/waiter obviously needs guidance and training! No attention to detail regards food or drink, no checking during service , drinks forgotten twice and never cleared the starter plates before bringing out main courses! Shame really as the Sunday lunch was very good
The Bull – ShrewsburyMy wife and I went for Sunday lunch july 6th First ever visit Lovely setting, sat for a drink in garden before going in. Check in was smooth and lady was very good. Moved us to a better table of her own accord, didn't mind the first table but she moved us anyway, thank you. Waitress was polite and efficient took our order for drinks and food. We only had mains, myself I chose the platter all 3 meats, my wife, the beef. Plate comes with meat and roast potatoes and yorkshire, all else comes in separate dishes presented Lovely. Meals were good quality as expected from the experience so far, but, unfo, all my 3 meats were slight dry around the edges. Not enough to make a fuss but enough to warrant cutting the edges off and leaving. I also thought the slices were rather thin as if cut on a slice. 3 good slices of each meat were presented. Pity about the dryness and would rather have had one generous slice. Would probably visit again because overall very enjoyable lunchtime
Water Rat – IronbridgeAfter a lengthy wait for our food,1hr 10 mins,it was well worth the wait, and the food was great, filling and full of flavour. Maybe they were short of staff on this evening.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordSecond time for me at this lovely, welcoming restaurant. I really like the way the rooms are light, airy and spacious yet it retains a very "cozy pub" atmosphere. Staff are friendly, helpful and efficient. Menu is extensive with extra daily specials. The problem is trying to choose! My coeliac friend's needs were respected and catered for with a good range of gluten-free options. Everything was beautifully prepared and delicious. Good parking, some nice views, and close to the canal for a quick walk afterwards.
The Queens Head – OswestryWe visited the Golden Ball Inn for the first time on Friday 4 July. First impression was a beautiful building, with a great atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The menu is diverse and tempting, and the food is wonderful. Prices are also very reasonable. If you want an evening in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, then you can't go wrong visiting the Golden Ball Inn. We will definitely be visiting again in the near future.
The Golden Ball Inn – TelfordI had a tea for two with my husband yesterday. The staff were really friendly and the food was amazing. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Would recommend the afternoon tea. We have booked a return visit .
The Swan At Ironbridge – TelfordBooked on line for 7pm Saturday evening,on arrival they had no record of our booking even though I had a confirmation email,no worries we found a table, we decided on steak, no rump , no sirloin, we left very disappointed, managed to have a meal in the swan pub which was excellent. Very disappointed.
The Elephant Crossing – IronbridgeLived up to its reputation, always eaten at the redhouse, but was recommended by a friend steaks were amazing, will definitely go again.
The Last Inn – NewportLovely pub, enjoyed my meal but only thing that let’s it down is the staff who was on at the time i visited did t really look like they wanted to be there and could of been more approachable.
The Malthouse – TelfordCame to the malthouse for a meal with friends. Got to say the food was really poor. The Mac and cheese was watery and had no taste. The hot honey friends came out with no honey very little melted cheese and five slices of sausages on it looked like a kids meal in a bowl. The kamikaze fries had lots of chilli and onion topping but very little sauce. The hunter chips had two pieces of chicken on. Overall the food was very poor and for a quieter evening at a restaurant you would expect better. Unfortunately poorly prepared and poor tasting.
The Malthouse – TelfordGreat little traditional pub. Good food and service.
The Golden Ball Inn – TelfordLovely meal as always.
The Queens Head – OswestryWe had a very nice sunday lunch top marks to lady chef lovely attentive staff
The Queens Head – OswestryTo be honest we were disappointed this was the first time we had visited and after arriving at midday to be told only half the menu was available we thought was really strange the food was ok but with only one member of staff trying to run the bar as well as wait on the tables meant the service was really slow onto the desserts to be told no cheesecake no crumble no waffles as we were the first ones in for Sunday lunch whatever customers coming in after us were going to have was a mystery unfortunately this has put us off visiting again.
The Bull – ShrewsburyHighly recommended
