The Smokey Cow – TelfordWe booked a table for 5 (4 adults and 1 child) for 5pm on Bank Holiday Monday (27th May), we were camping nearby (Worfe Camping) and we enjoyed a lovely walk down to the Smokey Cow. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. During taking our food order the staff did nervously explain that they were low or out of stock on some items. We did not mind at all as they had been honest straight and offered us several options as alternatives to replace veg for example. The food absolutely did not disappoint and was very tasty. Excellent value for money with fantastic portion sizes. The quality was second to none. We all including the 6 year old throughly enjoyed 3 course meal. The staff continued to demonstrate fantastic sense of humour and superb knowledge of the menu to advise is and offer suitable alternatives. We all left with very full bellies following our hearty meal and we highly recommended The Smokey Cow. Thanks to the chefs and front of staff for making our already enjoyable holiday even more memorable and gor ensuring we were all fed. Excellent value for money, good quality, superb staff. The little one enjoyed a quick play on the play park before leaving too. Toilets clean.
The Smokey Cow – TelfordExcellent food and service, would have given full marks but we were the only two people in there so felt a little flat in terms of atmosphere! The nachos was excellent, large portion enough for four people! Great value for money!
The Elephant Crossing – IronbridgeFood amazing!! 10/10 service horrendous staff too busy on their phones pay no attention at all! Such a shame nice place amazing food! Reluctant to return purely for awful service!
The Smokey Cow – TelfordSince the renovations the Malt House is so lovely and a joy to visit. Fabulous food, good value for money with plenty of options on the menu. The staff are much better now, they are always pleasant and attentive, which wasn't always the case before. All in all the Malt house has upped it's game
The Malthouse – TelfordA lovely Sunday lunch, with fabulous vegetable selection. Great desserts. Staff and service were spot on.
Water Rat – IronbridgeHad a great Sunday lunch here yesterday (26th May). Food delicious and staff very friendly and professional.
The Queens Head – OswestryWe thought the food was amazing. My partner said it was the best steak he's ever had. Service was sometimes slow and I think maybe that's because of staffing levels. The staff were amazing though and did their best.
The Malthouse – TelfordHad a meal Friday 24th May . As the weekend was extremely busy the year before a table was booked for 5 . Four adults and 1 child . Enjoyed our meals both nights . Meals were freshly cooked . Was hoping to book to stay next year at the Swan. Can recommend this establishment.
The Swan At Ironbridge – TelfordLovely food and great service. Enjoyed our meal. We were a party of 8 including children and everyone enjoyed their meal finding the menu suitable for everyone’s taste. The staff were friendly and worked hard to look after everyone in the restaurant. We will return
The Elephant Crossing – IronbridgeCame away a little disappointed. There was no table service provided but tables surrounding did. Despite waiting for 15 minutes, no one came to take our drink or food order even though we did have a reservation. Consequently, we had to approach the bar to place our order. We ordered the sharer nachos and was served a small plate of nachos. £11 for a small plate of nachos is expensive! There was a significant wait time of approximately 25 minutes between the starter and the main course. Although the main course was served hot, the dirty bird burger did not live up to its enticing description on the menu. It lacked flavour and was somewhat bland. Waiters/waitresses were very polite. Just a shame, the whole experience was underwhelming.
The Swan At Ironbridge – TelfordWe were looking for somewhere new to go out for a family meal, and someone suggested The Bull. Very pleasant staff, nice ambiance and good food. Definitely recommend.
The Bull – ShrewsburyThis is a lovely restaurant where we had a delicious lunch with friendly service . The helpings are very large so we chose with care! Everything freshly cooked and was just what we needed.
Water Rat – IronbridgeFood was lovely, great menu! We sat upstairs though and the service was rubbish. We waited 25 mins for drinks and never got an opportunity to order another round. Sat with empty glasses and finished plates for 25 mins and had to go ask for the bill.
The Elephant Crossing – IronbridgeStarters very average, not sure I would recommend to friends
The Last Inn – NewportWe had a lovely evening meal here. It was delicious. However, we did not consider returning because the waitress just couldn't be bothered. She didn't hide the fact that she was not interested. She was slow to respond and not a good advertisement for your restaurant. When we had finished our main courses we waited for our waitress to ask if we wanted anything else and we waited ages. she went past a number of times but did not even glance at our table - it was as if she made sure not to make eye contact. In fact she had not looked at us since serving the main courses. After waiting far too long my partner went over to her to ask about desserts and she gave him the menu. We had a look and picked what we wanted, then waited again for her to come to us, which we should have known was pointless. Terry had to attract her attention to come over and she was not very friendly - in fact, did not smile once while serving us. On the menu it said to ask the waiter what flavours of ice cream were on offer so I asked her what flavours there were and she said "The usual," looking at me with the same can't be bothered face. I said "I'm asking because it says on the menu to ask the waiter what flavours there are." The look remained the same sort of uninterested- well actually no, it was a little hostile at this stage! She said "Vanilla, strawberry, chocolate." I would have liked to know if I could have one of each but I felt that I was a nuisance to her so I just asked for vanilla. We stayed a week in Ironbridge and we've been before. We will certainly be staying again in the future but we will not be booking a meal at The Malthouse due to the poor service.
The Malthouse – TelfordCaitlin and her team were amazing from booking it via email until right up until the brunch was over. The drinks were fast flowing and nothing was too much. I will be returning for another brunch and will be recommending to everyone
The Malthouse – TelfordWe visited the Smokey Cow for a Birthday meal on a Tuesday night, awful service, took 25 minutes for anyone to come take a drinks order, then a further 25 for anyone to take our food order. The place only had 3 other groups in. So massive wait times between ordering and being served for every order We ended up having to go back to the bar multiple times just to ask for starters to be taken away, 30 mins after finishing them. Really expensive drinks charging £4.20 for a appletise. We had the Smokey cow Burger, I assume these burgers were the economy burgers from Spar, really rubbery and had a weird texture, I only eat half and left the rest. Really poor service and really expensive, for low quality food. Won’t be going back again and will tell others to avoid and go somewhere better.
