Rather ordinary choices on the menu, but fairly well cooked.

A*** Not sure where to begin. Came for my 36th birthday tonight after my best mate recommended it. Never felt so welcomed into a restaurant, the lady serving and front of house was so lovely and friendly. Both food and drinks arrived quickly, the restaurant itself is beautiful so well put together but now for the biggest praise of the night. The food …. Wow. I’m a big guy I love my food but I didn’t know where to turn. Buffalo wings fantastic, Brisket immense but the Mac and Cheese? Genuinely best I’ve ever eaten in my life and I’ve had it in America and all over. Thank you very much for making my birthday evening a special one, I don’t imagine it will be long before I’m back.

Haven’t been to this pub in years as we moved away - went on Sunday 10th December 2023, for a Sunday Lunch with my daughter .. It was fantastic we both had half a chicken each with stuffing parsnips - all the trimmings ! The beer was good to all at a reasonable price! All the staff were happy smiling and couldn’t do enough for you .. I will definitely go again and will thoroughly recommend the pub to anyone !

We came for Sunday dinner and it was absolutely amazing. The food was just brilliant and for such a great price. Will definitely be returning.

Good atmosphere and good food.

Fab Saturday night. Excellent food, lovely menu selection, lots to choose from. Staff really friendly and attentive. Shall definitely be making a return visit. Hopefully on a Friday night when there's entertainment too,what a bonus. Can thoroughly recommend.

The food was delicious and the service was great. We were pleasantly surprised that we were allowed to eat in the restaurant area with our dog.

Good was good. Service slow and heating not working so freezing cold while trying to enjoy a meal…..not great

I have had the great fortune to eat at the Water Rat a few times recently. Every time I’ve been there the staff have given a lovely warm welcome and the service has been excellent. The best part however is the food. I just can’t fault it. Freshly prepared, looks delicious and tastes unbelievable. The duck in particular is incredible. I can’t wait to go back again.

Mixed review. Booked for Sunday evening but unaware only Sunday lunch (roasts) available. Very cold, I sat with my coat on throughout the visit. Nearly fell off my chair seeing them charge £2.50 for a Yorkshire pudding if chosing the pork or large roast (beef and pork). And portion of cauliflower cheese for three was only sufficiently sized for 2 and contained one stalk as well as three florets. But on a more positive note the roasts were delicious, very tender pork and medium rare beef, well cooked green veg and carrots, nice roasties and delicious stuffing. Very reasonably priced. But unfortunately the negatives outweigh the positives so we won't be back on a Sunday evening for now.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch with family here. It was very easy to book online and when I rang to make a change to the booking, they were very helpful and accommodating. We were greeted at the door and shown to our table. Orders for drinks were taken straight away and we were given plenty of time to choose. We all agreed that the food was delicious. We will definitely be back in the new year again.

Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and great food. Reasonably priced and decent portion sizes. Would definitely recommend- good to book ahead as it was really busy when we visited.
