From start to finish this was a fabulous experience. Greeted upon arrival, straight to our table, food was outstanding. I had chicken supreme, my husband pork belly. Cheese board could easily be shared there’s plenty for two. Highly recommend.

Wow you will no be disappointed A lovely mid week meal out with my husband. Both the tempura prawns and Mussel starter was the best we have ever had generous portions and flavors in abundance. The lobster thermidor was truly delicious. We are lucky enough to live near this total gem of restaurant. A must restaurant for you food lovers! We will be back x

Choosing Y Sqwar for an evening out is a guarantee for enjoyment. They know just how to do it! Always a warm, friendly welcome; well trained & attentive staff; an excellent menu with good choices for all tastes & dietary needs and, of course, excellent food. Definitely our favourite place to eat.

We discovered the Old Courthouse whilst on holiday. We had a delicious meal in beautiful surroundings and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. There was a good choice of dishes on the menu without feeling overwhelmed.

we don’t get to go to Y Sgwyr as often as we would like as most of our dinner choices are quite spontaneous. So when we decide we would like to dine here it is usually fully booked and we miss out. On this occasion we decided on a later evening booking at 8.30pm. We visited with clients and it was no doubt the best meal we have had in a long time. We ( my husband and I ) are often left feeling disappointed with eating out. Several of our group ( of 5 ) chose lobster offered as a Special, that evening, this was the main course. Some had it as surf and turf. It was probably the best lobster we have ever had and the portion size did not disappoint. Excellent food, great atmosphere and the service was informative and most importantly came with lots of smiles. I am sure I don’t need to recommend, the bookings speak for themselves. I hope to be able to squeeze in again sometime soon. Thanks to all.

A fantastic meal at Y Sgwar to round off our holiday in Snowdonia. Lovely friendly and helpful service from everyone we spoke to and, despite the restaurant being full for Friday noght dinner service, we didn't wait long for drinks or food. The hake was exceptional, I could have happily drunk a bowl of the delicious lobster bisque sauce on its own! Chicken, steak and mussels all perfect - empty plates all round. Excellent dessert menu and wine list too, really good value for money. Thank you Y Sgwar for sending us home happy, we will be back to see you again soon!

Disappointing visit. Ordering is confusing- no obvious place to order food, so ended up having to shout across the people sitting at the bar, which in a noisy environment is far from ideal. This may have been the cause of problems with the food and drink. 2 of the party had the same dish (plant based burger), one ordered without beetroot&hummus. Both were delivered without these - had discussion with the the two waitresses but they made no offer to rectify the situation, just walking away, so we didn't get what we ordered. I would have expected them to at least offer to take the one meal back to rectify, or at a minimum an apology. That aside, neither of us liked the flavour of the burger - but that's personal taste. On + side, the chips were great, as was the tagine tart.

Great menu especially if you enjoy seafood like us. To start we had calamari and avocado and tomato bruschetta and for main course, sea bass and monkfish. Everything was beautifully cooked and presented, however the portions are a little on the small side. We ordered La Jolie Brise Sancerre which was delicious and perfectly matched the food. Would absolutely return and highly recommend.
