Amber Wine Bar & Bistro opened in 2006 in affluent Mossley Hill. It’s an opulent affair, inside and out, with lots of mirrors, gilt and chandeliers tastefully integrated to create a contemporary feel for this restaurant and bar. The menu at Amber offers a range of classic bistro dishes with a Mediterranean twist and all but one of the 31 wines are available by the glass. They also have an outside catering arm -- Amber Outside Catering -- which can cater for all kinds of function and event.

Blue Bar and Grill enjoys a fabulous waterfront location on Liverpool's Albert Dock, opposite The Arena, Tate Liverpool and The Beatles Story. Blue also boasts one of the best al fresco spaces in the city. Inside the huge open-plan warehouse a large bar area has a mix of comfy sofas and coffee tables and stools. The bar is fully stocked with premium spirits, draught and bottled beers. A serious wine list features 13 different Champagnes, a range of world wines and a small selection of finer wines. A grill section offers quality steak cuts, chicken and salmon served with sides and a choice of sauces. The bar and restaurant can be hired for functions and can accommodate up to 600 persons. Downstairs lies a 19th century basement vault that's home to Baby Blue, a separate bar and live entertainment area for up to 250 which is home to the award-winning Comedy Central club and Live Lounge, showcasing a monthly roster of international artistes. Located in South Liverpool, on the buzzy Allerton Road, The Gallery Bar & Grill provides a sophisticated and contemporary space for socialising, drinking and eating. The décor is elegant and features a cream and dark wood colourway with brasserie style tables and chairs, stylish chandelier lighting and bold designer wallpaper. The upstairs dining room is home to some of the best modern British cooking available in Liverpool; head chef Chris Dougan is on fire here, creating accomplished dishes using fine local produce, with top quality presentation. Aided by a slick and professional front of house team the atmospheric restaurant is becoming the talk of the town. The seasonal menu offers the best in line caught and ethically sourced fish and organic local meat and vegetables. Enjoy starters such as pan roasted scallops with their own recipe black pudding and rare-bit gratin and mains of pan fried sea bass with a warm potato salad and buttered surf clams or crisp pork belly with creamed potato, a grain mustard sauce and pea mousse. There are some fine locally reared steaks on offer from the grill which come with hand cut real chips cooked in dripping. The desserts are all homemade and include their signature Eton Mess and cappuccino crème brulee, vanilla foam and shortbread. They are currently developing a tasting menu showcasing regional, seasonal produce with flair.

The mojitos are chilled and the music is hot at La Cubanita, a new Cuban restaurant and bar that opened in Campbell Square at the beginning of 2008. It has already won plenty of plaudits including Best Newcomer from Metro newspapers and being selected as one of the ten best bars in the country. You can enjoy live music and dancing here six nights a week with the house band Sabor de Cuba, brought over direct from Havana. The menu offers Latin soul food with a modern take, including Cuban specialities, and there’s a great choice of cocktails. La Cubanita is open every day for lunch (11.30am-4pm) and dinner (6pm-midnight).

Lime Bar & Grill enjoys a unique location just off Junction 2 M57, in a lovely landscaped area facing a lake. During the week the bar caters for surrounding offices and a strong local following in the evenings and at weekends. Refurbished in December it now boasts a new lounge bar offering draught beers and cider. Popular with families, kids are well catered for and they hold many childrens parties. Open for breakfasts from 8am and at lunch Lime offer good value menus that feature panninis, burgers, pizzas and hot specials with Tapas available in the evenings. Weekends see Saturday and Sunday Brunch menus whilst a fine dining menu is available on Saturday night where you might choose from Venison, Sea Bass or fillet steak. Mello Wine Bar & Bistro is situated on Liverpool’s Allerton Road and as the name suggests is a relaxed place to visit whether you’re eating or drinking. Food is served all day and ranges from breakfast at weekends to more traditional fare suach as scouse, fish & chips and their Sunday roast. Mello has also recently launched a new tapas menu. Merchants is a bar and restaurant, set within a former bank and Grade II-listed building opposite the QEII Law Courts and close to Liverpool One. There is a split-level restaurant that can seat up to 90 diners, a lounge, private dining facilities for 20 people and a 20-bed boutique hotel. Open from Monday to Saturday, 12 noon to 10pm, the varied menu caters to all tastes, ranging from small plates to larger classic dishes, along with a varied grill section.

New York Cafe Bar in Mossley Hill is a sports bar with a difference, offering quality food and wines at reasonable prices. It’s been open nine years on Allerton Road but was refurbished to the tune of £275,000 in September 2008 and for sports fans it now boasts two nine-foot screens and nine 42-inch TVs. Deceptive from the outside, it’s a spacious venue with a long bar, high ceilings, open brick walls, wooden floors and booth seating and a mezzanine balcony overlooking the main bar area. Open from 11am til midnight every day, the menu offers a range of classic American cuisine along with a selection of chargrilled steaks. Full English or American breakfasts are also served. New York Café Bar can seat 225 people with a function room for private parties available.

PanAm is a stylish and contemporary bar and restaurant housed in the listed Britannia Pavilion building on Liverpool's Albert Dock. The building used to be the home of Granada Studios and Richard and Judy’s This Morning show; now it has become the choice venue for star-studded events, after-shows and corporate functions as well as being a top quality bar and restaurant in its own right. The bar is located on the ground floor and has a mix of designer booths and low tables and sofas. The interior is awesome with vaulted brick ceilings and the mezzanine level restaurant above. The fully stocked bar offers a large spread of premium spirits, beers, cocktails and a wine list with a broad range of Champagnes and world wines. Upstairs in the restaurant a lunch and Bistro Menu runs Monday-Friday from 12pm-10pm and on the weekends from 11am-7pm. You can choose from the lunch menu a selection of soups, hot and cold gourmet sandwiches and salads. The Bistro Menu offers all day breakfasts and pub classics like fish and chips, sausage and mash and steak and eggs. The A la Carte menu runs from 5.30pm-11pm and sees a broad choice of modern European dishes such as starters of red snapper, clam and chorizo chowder, Orkney scallops and asparagus, pea and mint risotto with a poached hen's egg. Anyone who knows Crosby will be familiar with the distinctive art deco façade of the Pioneer building which has been a feature of Liverpool Road for the last 70-odd years. But in October 2007 the famous soft furnishings emporium was replaced by this contemporary brasserie and bar which opens every day from 9am til late. It can seat 45 diners downstairs with room for another 50 in the upstairs private dining room. The food is modern European in style and a new team of chefs have put together a variety of menus including lunch, dinner, early bird, childrens, tapas, weekend breakfast and Sunday brunch. A private dining area is available for hire for weddings, birthdays, christenings, corporate events and wine tastings. Pioneer is also one of the few Liverpool venues with distinctive ‘champagne’ tables in the bar area. Pioneer recently appointed Michael Wichmann as Head Chef. Michael learned his craft at several top-notch establishments, including the Savoy in London, the Michelin-starred La Truffe restaurant in Frankfurt, and most recently the Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel and Towers, Dubai.

The restaurant takes its name from the mint-like herb that is also known as The Beefsteak Plant. Reform opened in 2010 within a 100-year-old bank building in the heart of Liverpool's business district. The opening has been eagerly anticipated by both discerning business people and shoppers as Reform has bridged the gap between day and night venues. The elegantly reworked interior offers stylish and comfortable surroundings in which to eat and drink. By day it is a buzzy, brasserie-style space where you can take respite from shopping for coffees, teas and light snacks which include gourmet sandwiches, wraps and salads. It is also a popular choice for business lunches. The food here has a definite attention to detail and as much as possible is made in-house from the artisan breads to the desserts and sauces. Everything else is locally sourced and seasonal. Southport’s former Warehouse Brasserie has unveiled a cool new look -- the restaurant, now known as The Warehouse Kitchen & Bar, is co-owned by Paul Adams and Steven Gerrard. The uber-cool Kitchen & Bar features a white cloth restaurant on the ground floor and ultra-chic bar with cool tunes on the first. The Warehouse has been a fantastic success for the last fourteen years and in that time received many accolades – listed in all major food guides including the Michelin Guide, the AA Good Food Guide & Hardens, along with being voted as one of the 50 best restaurants in the country by the Independent and receiving two AA Rosettes and a Michelin Bib Gourmand. The bespoke design-led restaurant boasts an extensive a la carte menu along with a wine list to complement. During the day you can enjoy food from the a la carte or a great value set lunch menu and a similar set menu is available to early diners. The a la carte offers starters such as smoked haddock fettuccini with tarragon and bacon crisp or Southport chowder with brown shrimps, razor clams and mussels. Tribeca bar and pizzeria is housed in an enormous double fronted old warehouse on Berry Street on the edge of Chinatown. The space has a lower and upper floor with a minstrels gallery accessed by two sets of stairs left and right. The lower floor houses the open Pizza kitchen where you can watch the chefs in action and there is a large bar to the right and to the left a dining area. Going upstairs there is another lounge and dining area, both these areas feature quirky modern antique furniture from the 60’s and 70’s. There is green and brown décor with wooden tables and comfy leather chairs or leather booth seating, in one area it has been set up to look live a living room from the late 60’s complete with an electric bar fire, standard lamp and period art on the walls. Drinks wise there are all the beers, wines and spirits you would expect in a premium style bar. The pizzas are made with Italian dough and are thin based 12" and stone baked. They are all priced at a great value £5 and there is a choice of 20 different types including the Tribeca Classico - the chef's own creation made with a lot of love. From May there are live bands every Thursday with DJs on Fridays and Saturdays. The venue can accommodate up to 350 people, is happy to rent out the upstairs for private parties and is children friendly until 9pm when the music may get a little louder playing Indie Rock and 80’s classic tunes.
