The seasonal menu offers the best in line caught and ethically sourced fish and organic local meat and vegetables. Enjoy starters such as pan roasted scallops with their own recipe black pudding and rare-bit gratin and mains of pan fried sea bass with a warm potato salad and buttered surf clams or crisp pork belly with creamed potato, a grain mustard sauce and pea mousse. There are some fine locally reared steaks on offer from the grill which come with hand cut real chips cooked in dripping. The desserts are all homemade and include their signature Eton Mess and cappuccino crème brulee, vanilla foam and shortbread. Anyone who knows Crosby will be familiar with the distinctive art deco façade of the Pioneer building which has been a feature of Liverpool Road for the last 70-odd years. But in October 2007 the famous soft furnishings emporium was replaced by this contemporary brasserie and bar which opens every day from 9am til late. It can seat 45 diners downstairs with room for another 50 in the upstairs private dining room. The food is modern European in style and a new team of chefs have put together a variety of menus including lunch, dinner, early bird, childrens, tapas, weekend breakfast and Sunday brunch. A private dining area is available for hire for weddings, birthdays, christenings, corporate events and wine tastings. Pioneer is also one of the few Liverpool venues with distinctive ‘champagne’ tables in the bar area. Pioneer recently appointed Michael Wichmann as Head Chef. Michael learned his craft at several top-notch establishments, including the Savoy in London, the Michelin-starred La Truffe restaurant in Frankfurt, and most recently the Sheraton Dubai Creek Hotel and Towers, Dubai.

Tribeca bar and pizzeria is housed in an enormous double fronted old warehouse on Berry Street on the edge of Chinatown. The space has a lower and upper floor with a minstrels gallery accessed by two sets of stairs left and right. The lower floor houses the open Pizza kitchen where you can watch the chefs in action and there is a large bar to the right and to the left a dining area. Going upstairs there is another lounge and dining area, both these areas feature quirky modern antique furniture from the 60’s and 70’s. There is green and brown décor with wooden tables and comfy leather chairs or leather booth seating, in one area it has been set up to look live a living room from the late 60’s complete with an electric bar fire, standard lamp and period art on the walls. Drinks wise there are all the beers, wines and spirits you would expect in a premium style bar. The pizzas are made with Italian dough and are thin based 12" and stone baked. They are all priced at a great value £5 and there is a choice of 20 different types including the Tribeca Classico - the chef's own creation made with a lot of love. From May there are live bands every Thursday with DJs on Fridays and Saturdays. The venue can accommodate up to 350 people, is happy to rent out the upstairs for private parties and is children friendly until 9pm when the music may get a little louder playing Indie Rock and 80’s classic tunes.
