Selected this as one of the closest to our overnight accommodation, and offered a very reasonable selection of food, at fair pricing. There was plentiful parking albeit poorly lit. The restaurant was bright and fresh having undergone refurbishment, and we were welcomed by the young lady who was our server for the evening. Drinks were ordered and served promptly (it was quiet for a Saturday night, but had been busy much earlier we were assured). I chose a pint of cider shandy and my wife a large White Zinfandel. My wife (celebrating a birthday) avoided her usual steak and opted for Hunter’s Chicken, and I asked for a starter and side to be served as a main which was accepted without missing a beat, my choice being BBQ Buffalo wings coupled with Dirty Fries (Shropshire Blue Cheese with Jalapeños ). We waited just a few minutes and the food appeared, and generous was an understatement! My ‘5’ wings had morphed to 8, and the Hunter’s chicken came with a huge bowl of wedges masquerading as fries. They were like small roast potatoes and I ended up with half a dozen to ‘try’!. The BBQ wings were smothered in sauce and were delicious, as were the dirty fries. The Hunter’s chicken was summarily demolished and the bacon was crispy and smokey. When she came to clear away, we chatted with the lady server who was friendly and straightforward, and she came across as very genuine and interesting. Paying the bill, I was pleasantly surprised to find it much cheaper than expected, and even with a tip it was still much better value than our home turf in Devon. Thoroughly recommended, and would definitely return if ever in the area.
