Harry’s Cafe Bar at Yew Tree Barn – Grange-over-SandsAs people fairly new to the area, we were so looking forward to our lunch with friends, hoping that it would become a regular destination for us. Disappointingly, that wasn’t the case as the service was very poor. We waited half an hour at the table before drinks were served, the food came nearly an hour after our previously booked time and we gave up on waiting for the dessert menu to come, preferring to go home for tea and cake. We acknowledge that it was a glorious day and there were a lot of customers outside but it seemed to us that they took precedence over the people who had reserved a table. What a shame.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeWe had an amazing meal here, food was delicious. If I could give the staff a rating of 10 out of 5 I would. They went above and beyond. Great atmosphere but the noise levels made it difficult to have a proper conversation.
La Mezzaluna – Carlislemy wife and I enjoyed both our evening meals at The Wheatsheaf when we stayed over recently. The menu wasn't too complicated, there was plenty we could enjoy and the prices weren't expensive. The staff were all warm and welcoming & we had a great time, would recommend a visit, and we will be going back to stay and eat there when next up in the area later in the year.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeLovely meal , good service and good value for money .
Greyhound Inn Cotehill – CarlisleHad a meal with my wife Everything was excellent Service was superb very friendly and very competitive for quality and tasteful food Will certainly be back
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereWe had a really enjoyable evening, all of the staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend the Pheasant Inn to anyone. You may need to pre-book a table though as it’s in high demand but totally worth it.

Plant by Kat’s Kitchen – Keswick2nd visit I managed to get 4 meals booked I was disappointed that I could not get all seven meals booked but the reason for this is the quality of the meals and service lovely food, ales and staff. Looking forward to my next 2 visits.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickBest Sunday lunch I've had for a long while. Roast beef and roast chicken was great as was custard on the crumble.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpePortion of food served for main was not adequate- Not Good value for money spent. Steak was cooked as requested and delicious. Lamb was four small baby slices and not pink, broccoli with the lamb was vey poor, side order of dauphinoise potato was a baby portion and not fresh. Overall nice atmosphere, waitress was very friendly and approachable. Would go back for wine but definitely not food. Management should address the quality and portion of food served to customers
