Lovely atmosphere, great service, and fabulous food. Our first visit but definitely not the last
Ribeye Shrewsbury – ShrewsburyHad a meal Saturday night very good service and friendly staff a little disappointed they had no pies
The Tilley Raven – ShrewsburyBest Sunday lunch in the area and I know because I've sampled them all. The staff are so lovely as a well. It's a pleasure to go there when I have visitors. They all love it also.
Water Rat – IronbridgeQuaint and tucked away in the middle of nowhere but SO worth the drive. In my opinion it beats Hickory's. I went there with my partner for date night and we were not disappointed. Service was quick, the staff very pleasant and approachable, and the food was exceptional. We chose one of the sharing platters and wanted to change a few items. The staff were very accommodating and were happy to do this. When the food arrived it was as described and piping hot; it was the ideal sharing board for 2 people. Once finished, we got asked if we wanted to take anything home which is always handy to know if you have leftovers! Desserts looked really good but we were too full to entertain the idea of pudding! We definitely will be going back and make this our regular smokehouse. A MUST try for those who love bbq food!! (Don't worry if have dietary requirements as the menu does cater for these!).
The Smokey Cow – TelfordThere was 7 of us for birthday celebrations for myself and my partner. We did the bottomless brunch. The excuse of we are over booked so that’s why we are delayed with serving wasn’t what you want to hear. Every drink we had even though we had the same drinks, everyone was different in taste and flavour, they weren’t enjoyable. Then upon receiving the bill trying to add on an extra £30 saying we upgraded our cocktails when we didn’t and having to have the manager come over and remove it. The food as well, two tacos, which weren’t very nice can I add, we have had a better service elsewhere for a bottomless brunch and get more for less money. Unfortunately we will not be returning.
The Underground – ShrewsburyFood excellent with wide choice to cater for all of our party , everything was home made. We weren’t rushed & all staff friendly checking everything was ok.
The Queens Head – OswestryLovely food - very good service with no rush - lovely afternoon
The Queens Head – OswestryA lovely venue with excellent value for money. Charlotte was an attentive server and we all had a nice time. The only negative was the size of the tacos but we all enjoyed ourselves.
The Underground – ShrewsburyAmazing setting, food, wine and Customer service. Would strongly recommend.
Ribeye Shrewsbury – ShrewsburyBrilliant place, the food is just outstanding, for what you get it’s a good value aswell. The atmosphere was good semi busy good restaurant vibe and was lucky to have a live band which was excellent. Service is very good both servers were very polite and friendly always checking if we was okay and had everything. We are going back just to try some more of the items. Fantastic place
The Smokey Cow – TelfordWe found the service extremely slow, we waited about 20-25 mins for a pint & a glass of wine. I would understand if we had ordered cocktails. The food was not great either, there was no flavour on the chicken wings, coleslaw was very random, beef loaded fries were nice but all basic frozen food that was served lukewarm nothing special at all. Very disappointing indeed.
The Underground – ShrewsburyVisited for an early dinner on a Saturday afternoon The food was exceptional , the service extremely good and knowledgable staff Can’t wait to re visit !
Ribeye Shrewsbury – ShrewsburyTop quality food, cozy and stylish dining area, and warm and welcoming atmosphere. Great for special occasions.
Ribeye Shrewsbury – ShrewsburyWe previously really enjoyed our food here. Im not sure if the menu has changed much in the last year, but on this occasion the small plates menu felt a bit uninspiring. So we ordered tacos, but our black bean tacos were far too salty - initially we tried to eat them but ended up having to leave some. We mentioned to staff who said this was not intentional, they apologised, tasted the dish themselves and agreed it wasn’t right and gave us a partial discount on the bill.
The Elephant Crossing – IronbridgeBottomless brunch. Sorry wasn't sure i should review or not because I didnt want to seem negative but after speaking to a friend who owns a restaurant she said.... no truth no improvement? So........ If im honest this was actually a huge disappointment to other venues. The atmosphere- hugely lacking!! Only our table in and wasn't even background music for atleast the first half. Dark & Dingy....was how my friend described it :( The cocktail menu doesn't have a description and whilst the staff are happy to stand telling you the content- its time consuming. When theres loads coming in from the beer garden to the same bar.... its not ideal. The alcohol was mainly sours and they just taste like juice. Staff- The poor lad was ran ragged.... he was lovely but just understaffed. The food- sorry but when your asked how you want your steak and you say "medium" and they say " sorry chef says bleeding or burnt" your expectation becomes poor. However, im afraid the quality of the steak just wasn't worth eating. The chicken was dry and like Iceland content. The cheese dippers had no cheese and the rest not worth a mention. :( Sadly- having ate and drank here many of times over decades.......this really wasnt worth the time or money. Such a shame considering it was my friends first bottomless brunch as she lives abroad and hadnt seen me in 5yrs! The saving grace, however- was that after the brunch we had some real cocktails/ spirits then the band come on ( great band) the evening turned around. Just ashame my bank balance really had to pick up the slack from the brunch. Then Mds on the way home :( I will say however that the normal food and drink as well as the usual vibe ( not BB) is fab.
The Malthouse – TelfordWe recently visited for a 50th birthday celebration with a group of 22. The food was lovely—well-presented, flavourful, and enjoyed by everyone. Unfortunately, the service didn’t quite live up to the standard of the food. While staff were friendly and polite, there were delays and a lack of attentiveness at times, which was disappointing for such a special occasion. Overall, a nice meal, but improved service would make a big difference.
