We went for my Birthday lunch and the service and food was first class we will definitely be back and would highly recommend it

It was our second visit to the Pheasant this week and we weren’t disappointed. We firstly called for an excellent Sunday lunch and later in the week called again for what was a fantastic meal again. I went for the steak pie and the better half went for the chicken,ham and leek pie. Both were delicious and the veg was excellent.

Have eaten many times at Lewis`s over the years and always had good food, good service and good value. Excellent.

A great experience. Food was delicious. Staff very friendly and helpful. Nice atmosphere. Didn’t feel rushed even though we had selected an early sitting and reasonable prices. Dog friendly which was a bonus.,Will definitely be back

Lovely meal and the staff were attentive without being overly so. Generous portions and good value. We would have liked some more relaxing, unobtrusive music in the background.

We always visit The Pheasant when staying in and around Keswick. Old school cosy pub serving good beers and ‘proper’ hearty food. Great atmosphere as usually very busy. Visited multiple times now and will continue to do so - the staff enjoy banter and have always made us feel very welcome. We will be back! (Again!)

My wife and I were slightly concerned about eating at this restaurant having seen that most main courses were priced at £25 or higher. Would the standard of the meal justify the relatively high cost? However, we were not disappointed with the quality of the food. My wife had the sea bass whilst I had the pork belly. It took a fair while for the meals to arrive, which is a good sign because it suggests that they were cooked to order. Both were very nicely presented and were very tasty indeed. We were pleased with our choices. For dessert we had the cheesecake, lemon and raspberry if I remember correctly. It was nice enough but rather heavy after a substantial main course. We had a medium glass of wine each, one Savingnon blanc and one Chardonnay @ £10 each. The bill came to over £90 but as a special, once in a while evening, it was money well spent

Three of us had a most enjoyable, relaxing lunch on Thursday. We were curious about frickles as a starter so ordered a portion to share. Enjoyed by 2 of us. Husband not too keen. Generous portions of fish and chips x 2. Double burger x 1 who said it was the most flavoursome he’d had. Two crème brûlée (best ever so save room) and one affogato for dessert. Slight criticism is some chips were slightly hard and scrappy but this would not deter us from dining again. Friendly barman. Great ambiance and decor. Congratulations on your recent award. Well deserved.

Came on a Friday evening 3 ladies away for a couple of nights.. the horse and farrier is a stunning building, staff and locals super friendly and helpful. Food although slightly more expensive than you might normally get for a pub, the food was worth every penny. Left stuff and satisfied.

17 of us had a delicious meal, as always. Food was delicious and was nice and hot. Service was excellent too with friendly and helpful staff. We weren't rushed off the table when we'd finished our meal also. 5* from me!

I visited the Pheasant with two friends, both of whom had eaten there with me before. We all enjoyed the Lakeland Pie, which is a reliable and high quality example of the best of pub food. Washed down with a pint of Pheasant ale, this is what good pub dining is all about. No wonder the pub is busy.

Went late lunchtime on Saturday,. It was busy when we arrived, which is a good sign. It slowly cleared. Everything was fine-plenty of choice, good service. Our problem was that we would have liked a sweet but we had a train to catch.-that was our fault- we should have planned on travelling later.

A poor experience. As a single diner (my wife passed 9 years ago) I felt unwelcome and rushed. I travel on my own a lot and have never exoerienced such treatment anywhere else. The online booking site would not let me book for one person - it said no availability. Booking for 2 people was not a problem so thats what i did. When i arrived I explained i was on my own and i was treated as though i shouldn't be there. Despite the restaurannt being almost empty i was told to sit at a central table - probably the worst one in the whole place. I asked to be moved but was told not possible. Thereafter it seemed that they wanted me gone as soon as possible. This was a great shame as the food was quite ok and it wasn't as though i was not spending much. I ordered 3 courses including a fillet steak and wine. All in all, not an enjoyable experience, I felt like i was being discriminated against because i was on my own.
