Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereA delight, lovely efficient service, excellent food [I had the lamb], friendly ambience. Highly recommended.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereService attentive and friendly. Food was nicely presented and of a decent standard but overpriced in our opinion for the quality achieved. Our starters were very nice (spiced chicken and souffle) but our mains (slow cooked lamb & cod curry) not quite as good as hoped for. Lamb nice but the gravy was bland and fondant tasteless. The cod appeared a bit overcooked but in a nice sauce. I also personally prefer to see table mats used. Tables without, have a bit of a cafe look and feel about them and this wasn't in keeping with this restaurant.
Grants Of Castlegate – PenrithOne of our favourite restaurants in Carlisle. The staff are lovely, the food is delicious and the location is great, on a Georgian terrace looking out over the citadel. We’ve been many times to Sage and Vine and its sister restaurant Mezzaluna next door - not one bad experience. Highly recommend.
Sage and Vine – CarlisleReally lovely atmosphere, staff were very pleasant, and food was amazing!
Sage and Vine – CarlisleAfter a very busy week it was great to go out for a meal. We had fish'n'chips and enjoyed it very much. The cider batter was light and crispy, the haddock was cooked perfectly. The tartare sauce was good too. Perhaps a few more chips? In fact we couldn't manage pudding, but on another occasion I had a lovely creme brulee. We like to come for a meal before going to the Heron Theatre, and will definitely come again.
The Wheatsheaf at Beetham – MilnthorpeWe have eaten here many times and have always had great praise for the restaurant. This time we felt it had deteriorated downwards to a mass production establishment. Service was fast too fast. The portions had become too large, it felt like it high and lower the quality. We did not feel our custom was appreciated, sometimes felt a nuisance. The dogs are too intrusive. To have them right by you breathing far to close and cleaning themselves! Really put one off the food. Perhaps have all dog customers at the far end …leaving fresh air for the other customers. The comparison with another family run restaurant in Grasmere is stark. Lewis bistro, you are way below there standard. Their prices are more competitive. Not sure if we will risk another visit. So disappointed, please go back to old standards.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereTurned up for our booking was turned away as I was told they don’t have time to check online bookings as they have had walk in What the point if an in line booking system if they arnt going to use it Rude staff
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleIt was super !
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleGreat food and great service. Food was lovely and fresh.x
La Mezzaluna – CarlisleWhat a gem of a place , service first class. Food was perfect thoroughly enjoyed . Will return again soon.
Sage and Vine – CarlisleA lovely evening once again at The Pheasant. Great food and service by attentive and caring staff.
Pheasant Inn – KeswickLovely meal with friends, had cod, sea bass, stroganoff and steak and was all well cooked and decent portions. Good selection of wines and friendly service.
Lewis’s Bistro – GrasmereOur second visit and again wonderful lunch. Food, staff and atmosphere could not be faulted. Highly recommend and we will be back.
Sage and Vine – CarlisleThis pub goes from strength to strength. Not just proper beer but increasingly wonderful food all served by genuinely hospitable staff.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithYet another amazing meal at the Horse and Farrier! Service was impeccable yet warm and friendly. My wife had the cod from the specials menu whilst I had the most amazing wild Cumbrian pheasant burger. Both were absolutely delicious, and washed down with stunning local ales! Couldn’t recommend it more highly!!!
Horse and Farrier – Penrith60th birthday meal couldn't have been better, easily some of the best food we've ever had! Excellent use of local and seasonal ingredients. All 3 courses were delicious and beautifully presented. Service was spot on and all the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Well done to the chef and all the team.
Horse and Farrier – PenrithWhat a find! Easy to book online. Helpful and friendly staff. A relatively limited menu, however, a good choice. We very rarely eat steak out as it is not always cooked to our liking. We decided on the fillet of beef stroganoff and we weren't disappointed. Excellent quality and it was cooked to perfection. Really good value for money. Would definitely go again.
